Le Président Saddam Hussein appelle ses anciens soldats à se soulever contre l'occupation américaine dans une cassette datée du 20 juillet et diffusée par une chaîne arabe de télévision par satellite, ce mercredi 23 juillet. Le président irakien y affirme que « la guerre n'est pas terminée » et ordonne à ses anciens soldats de se soulever contre l'occupation américaine. Il exhorte ses soldats à ne pas perdre espoir.

« Aujourd'hui je m'adresse en particulier (...) à votre honneur militaire et j'en appelle à la promesse que vous avez faite à la nation et au peuple ».

« Les 11 et 12 avril, nous avons commencé à réorganiser le parti (Ba’ath) et le peuple à résister à l'ennemi et nous avons été en contact avec les hommes des forces armées ».

« Des nouvelles de vous, les hommes des forces armées et de la Garde républicaine, me parviennent. Je suis content lorsque j'entends que vous menez ces honorables opérations de Djihad au côté de vos frères Moudjahidine ».

« En effet, cette guerre n'est pas terminée ».

« La volonté du peuple, du gouvernement, du parti Baas n'est pas brisée. Maintenant, avec la guerre qui se poursuit, l'occupation ne pourra pas stabiliser le pays avec son armée qui occupe notre territoire. La volonté du peuple ne sera pas assujettie par l'ennemi ».

« Notre détermination ne capitulera pas et ne sera pas vaincue. La bataille n'est pas terminée ».

« Nous disons à nos forces armées et à notre peuple que, si l'Amérique a atteint la supériorité militaire, elle n'atteindra pas la suprématie dans la bataille de la détermination face au peuple irakien ».

« Lorsque l'ennemi annonce officiellement que la guerre n'est pas terminée, il s'agit en fait de l'unique assertion précise (...) car la guerre n'est pas finie aux plans politique et militaire ».

« Si les Etats-Unis ont remporté (...) la victoire durant la confrontation, ils n'auront pas remporté de victoire dans le combat des volontés. Ils ne vaincront pas le peuple irakien, ses moujahidin et ses militants ».

An audio tape of Saddam Hussein declaring the war is not yet over has been broadcast this July 23 on an Arab television station, aired on Dubai-based Al-Arabiya television, and is dated 20 July. He calls on Iraqi forces to regroup and fight the coalition and praises those in the town of Falluja, where anti-American feeling has run high and attacks on US troops have been frequent.  Saddam urged his former soldiers to fight on against the U.S. occupation. He claimed the Baath Party started to reorganize to resist U.S. and British troops two days after the occupation of Baghdad.

"Men of the armed forces, Republican Guard and national security, it is time for a new great uprising,"

"The war is not over in Iraq".

"In the future the invaders will think again before attacking Iraq".

"Our will will not surrender and won't be defeated. The battle is not over yet".

"On April 11 and 12, we started to reorganize the (Ba’ath) party and people to resist the enemy, and we were in contact with the men of the armed forces".

"News of you, the men of the armed forces and the Republican Guard, reaches me. I am pleased when I hear that you are carrying out these honorable Jihad operations side by side with the brother Mujahedeen or when you are leading them in Iraq's many cities".

"Yes, this war has not ended. The will of the people, the government, the Ba’ath Party is not broken. Now, with the war not over, the occupation will not be able to stabilize the country with its army which occupies our land. The will of the people will not be subdued by the enemy".

"We tell our armed forces and our people that if America has achieved military superiority, it will not achieve supremacy in the battle of wills against the Iraqi people, its Mujahedeen  and militants".
