WE CONFIRM THE MEETING
SADDAM HUSSEIN-DONALD RUMSFELD IN BAGDAD
Despite
the denegations of the Iraki muppet governement and of the
State Department, we confirm – on basis of serious
information from the Ba’ath and the Defense legal team of
Arab layers who defend the President Saddam Hussein – the
informations issued by AL-QUDS AL-ARABI
(London, April 29) and the Egyptian magasine
AL-USBU (May 2).
The
U.S. Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld paid a secret
visit to Iraqi president Saddam Hussein and offered him “freedom
and a possible return to public life if he made a televised
request to rebel groups for a ceasefire with allied forces”.
Quoting from the London based Arab daily AL-QUDS AL-ARABI, it
was reported that Saddam promptly rejected the offer.
The
visit to Saddam occurred when Rumsfeld paid a ‘surprise’
visit to Iraq some two weeks ago and was known only to a few
Iraqi officials in Jordan, the Arab daily reported quoting
sources.
The
Egyptian magazine AL-USBU, on 2 May 2005, published
what it said was the text of the conversation between Iraqi
President Saddam Hussein and US Defense Secretary Donald
Rumsfeld on his latest trip to Baghdad during which he visited
the imprisoned Iraqi leader. AL-USBU reports that informed
political sources had disclosed the details of the meeting.
The
Saddam Hussein-Rumsfeld meeting reportedly lasted nearly an
hour and took place in the presence of the commander of US
occupation forces in Iraq.
The
newsletter
AL-BA’ATH AL-IRAQI, issued by the “Iraqi
Committees” will publish on its May
6 issue (#55) the english translation of this
conversation.
